MY JOURNEY BEGINS

By Anthony L. Albay

I had a great time staying at PAIDE as a student. I learned a lot most especially in social interaction. PAIDE taught me how to understand the Deaf and how to mingle with them.

Belonging to PAIDE and being a PAIDEnian now is a privilege for me to find new things. Together with the other interpreters I could journey with the deaf and help build bridges for them to meet other people. PAIDE has taught me a lot of things and realities about the Deaf and Deaf culture.   I now clearly understand the deaf.

I could still remember one event during an activity held in Don Bosco, Makati City a year ago. That day, one of the doctors asked for my assistance and without hesitation I volunteered myself despite of my being still a student. I was so happy doing that task because I knew that I also learned.

Another was during our educational exposure in Antipolo last August 31, 2008. I had a great time talking with the deaf thru the use of sign language. I can say that my desire of helping and serving the deaf people is now coming true. The activities and exposures we had were like diamond stones that I can treasure.

Because of PAIDE, I have developed   enough courage to face the challenges in the world of the Deaf. Also in belonging here, I gained not only knowledge and skills in interpreting but most especially friends. I appreciate the humbleness of my trainers and their willingness to share their knowledge to us.

I am very much happy and honored to interpret and to serve for the deaf. I am happy to journey with them.
